TAGS – Trans* Swimming Group in South London

A NOTE FROM THE TAGS PAGE ON FACEBOOK: We have an amazing, safe and appropriate swimming space. We have full private use of the training pool at the Glassmill Leisure Centre, Lewisham.+ The facilities are as follows: A very discrete space with electric blinds on all windows to ensure privacy. 20m Teaching pool with moving floor to alter depth. Gender Neutral changing facilities which lead straight onto the pool, comprising two large changing rooms which are communal but have disabled cubicles in each and two shower cubicles in each. Gender specific swimming changing facilities will be available should you choose to use them.

An hour and a half slot to ensure that we have time to change and settle.

Pool staff will be given training by TAGS* to ensure that gender issues are covered and treated sensitively.

TAGS* representatives to greet swimmers and take them to changing area.

Accessible CCTV monitored parking at a very reasonable rate. (£2 per hr) (open until centre closes)

A cafe space to socialise. (open until centre closes)

Parents of young people and carers are welcome to swim or spectate.

There are facilities for disabled swimmers too.

This is a brilliant opportunity for our community to have a safe and very accommodating space. TAGS* is the only Trans Gender Non Conforming swimming group in London.

We have a 3 month trial but we need the numbers to make this work. So please support the initiative by coming to our sessions.

The cost will be £3.60 (lower for Lewisham residents) a session. A drop in the ocean for what’s been provided! If we have enough swimmers on a regular basis there is a possibility of negotiation.
