Can acupuncture help me?
These are just a few of the conditions listed as proven to be helped with acupuncture treatment by the World Health Organization: emotional distress, depression, anxiety, addictions, smoking cessation, digestive disorders, IBS, weight loss, pain, headaches, and even colds and flus. Acupuncture is also used extensively in drug and alcohol cessation clinics. Most people find acupuncture very relaxing. If you’ve never had acupuncture before, or if you want to discuss any questions or concerns you have about whether acupuncture would benefit you, I am at the clinic every Wednesday and would love to talk with you about this amazing and ancient medicine.
What to know about my appointment
Appointments are at 5pm, 5.30pm, 6pm, 6.30pm and 7pm. Please come to the clinic 10 minutes early on your first visit to complete some simple paperwork. Make sure you have eaten something light and drink plenty of water before and after your treatment. After a brief chat, needles will be inserted and left in for about 30 minutes. The whole session will last for one hour. Please wear comfortable clothes. Sometimes treatments require the removal certain items of clothing, but this will always be discussed with you, and your comfort is my primary concern.
My first career was as a secondary school teacher, moving to London in 1990 for my first full time teaching post in Waltham Forest. My own health issues introduced me to acupuncture about 13 years ago, and the rest, as they say, is history. I decided to complete a four-year Masters degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine, training in San Francisco and Los Angeles. I worked in the clinic at Emperor’s College in Santa Monica, Los Angeles, treating hundreds of people with a wide and varied array of health issues. I also spent 6 months at the Being Alive Sexual Health Clinic in West Hollywood working with the HIV team, helping the patients to deal with the side effects of the drug regime and to build immunity. I have been part of the team at CliniQ since July 2015.
